How do you ground the strings with that tailpiece Brad?

Did you use double sides to make the Koa easier to bend?

It’s a beauty!

A couple of questions Brad:

I have 1/32 brass. I that what you used, or thinner?

Wood screws to attach the brass to the end block?

Ken ,
The stock I used is 3/32”
1/32” would be too thin in my opinion I think the minimum will be about a 16th of an inch.
The brass I use is an old kickplate from a door. I got it for free.

I used to use wood screws but now I use machine screws. I drill a hole and then use a tap to tap the hole. It works great. you only need two screws but sometimes I use three.

Terrence, thanks!
I actually don’t ground my tailpieces never seemed to be a problem.
You can do it with the wood tail pieces you just have to inlay some brass where the strings attach.

They’re just regular koa sides thicknessed to .090”
It doesn’t matter if it’s the curly maple of curly koa It’s always a challenge to bend the tight cut away.
