Just finished this one up.
I’ve been saving this spectacular set of color for 25 years finally decided it was time.
Lutz spruce top
CurlyKoa back and sides
Koa three-piece neck
Brazilian rosewood fretboard, bridge, bindings, and head veneers.
Nitro finish
Gotoh tuners
25.4 “scale.
1-3/4” nut width

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

The thing about koa is, there’s so many different densities, and grain patterns that it’s all different. At least that’s been my experience .
with that being said these particular pieces, (the middle one was from a different batch) carved like butter -just like Honduran mahogany
