I'm surprised that method of headstock clamping at 7:45 actually works. I guess those rubber pads generate enough friction to keep it from sliding.

The fret slot glue applicator at 12:35 sure is simple and effective. I think it's just a large hypodermic needle taped onto the glue bottle.

But then they go and ruin all that fine work a short while later by beveling away a large amount of the playing surface on the frets

The way the woman holds the roll of tape and the giant binding scraper are pretty cool.

I don't defend everything that they do in that video, one of the things I don't like is the glue - I like hot hide glue for all the wood-to-wood joints. But if they use something similar to original Titebond, loosening the neck would not be a huge problem. If they use mystery glue or epoxy, it will.

What I find most interesting is the way they use clever and very expensive jigs to speed up the process. Also, the speed of the workers doing the different tasks is impressing

I thought it was interesting that they apparently only did a rough pass on the necks with the CNC machine. It's probably quicker to finish the neck carving by hand than it is to run finish passes on the CNC. I know that in making banjo necks, I could build one much faster using a shaper to rough the neck out and then finish out by hand than I could doing a full CNC carve. What I gained with CNC is not having my hands anywhere near a shaper blade and the ability to have extremely consistent details on the necks.

Actually, the factory is that old, not the video. If the video had been made 50 years ago, it would have been preceded by something like this:

It is interesting to see the difference in both factories - Crafter seems to have a much cleaner workspace too.
