While we had The Rona floatin around I was bending side sets , Did like 15 sets . This wood both pieces broke at same spot on upper bout . Im not one to waste wood....... much .... lol Anyway , I decided to experiment a bit and this was born. Was a fun little build . I have it set up for slide playing at the moment.

Neat! I've done similar things with broken wood. It's gotta be useful for something!

Very good save indeed!

COVID lockdown actually got me back into building guitars at all. I had done custom banjos for a long time, and had done some archtops, but I was in the middle of moving my shop from Tennessee to North Carolina when the lockdown hit. I had the tools and wood to build guitars already moved (hadn't built a flattop guitar in 35 years or so). My banjo making equipment, more dependent on machinery, had not yet been moved. So I built several flattops, and that's still what I'm doing more than banjos these days. It's been fun. The silver lining.

I was fortunate that where I live we only had one brief period of restrictions. During that quarantine I accomplished absolutely nothing as it meant I had an 18 month old and a 2.5 year old home from their usual childcare services and requiring 100% attention :D Try as I might I couldn’t focus on lutherie work with a screaming toddler clinging to each leg!
