Radial purfling? Could please explain process and mebbe a closer pix? If I understand correctly, I've never seen that before. Beautiful guitars and finishing. Thanks, Roy

I don't have a great picture of the finished purfling but here is one I took after installing, as I was scraping everything flush.

I cut the rebates and installed the B/W purfling, a thin strip of styrene stock, a second strip of W/B purfling and binding. After the glue was cured, I pulled out the styrene strip and installed cross grain strips of Chechen just like you would with abalone. Snap the pieces in and make sure they are pushed together then flood with CA.

Next time I do it, the radial purfling lines will be narrower. At the time, I was really not going out to stores and getting by with the materials I had on hand. I has 0.125” styrene and titebond doesn’t stick well to that, so that is what I used. Next time I will make narrower strips from UHMW or similar.

I’m sure there are tons of better examples here at OLF. Do a search, and you’ll get lots of ideas and inspiration!
