 Post subject: CITES transfer?

I'm currently working on a Brazilian rosewood bodied guitar and intend to sell the instrument upon its completion. The luthier whom I purchased the wood from supplied me with a CITES permit from when he had imported the wood but his name is listed on the form. I'd like to include CITES certification with the guitar regardless if sold internationally or in the states; do I need to reapply for certification to have a form with my name on it or is the current paperwork I have good enough if I include a paper trail showing proof of purchase from the original importer?

Last year, I was making planes to saw up some Brazilian Rosewood boards that I bought in 1982. Before doing so, I sought an opinion from the forestry service, about what type of proof was needed. The boards are surfaced two sides, and they are 1 1/8" thick, which I am told, is an indication of their age. I provided facts and shipping receipts. There was no bill of sale - it was an verbal agreement. So I only had a bill for a third party who built the box, and then from the shipping company and my narrative. The response, which may be of some assistance to you, is attached. You may want to email the Department, provide scans of your papers and your narrative, and see what they say.
