It's an add on price in the policy and used as needed. Normally runs $30-$35. You need all the specifics when requesting the add on.

In that case I would not doubt at all if he expects to pay for shipping.

So, you would pay that much extra for each guitar you shipped?

So I'm working on a guitar for a client and am near to shipping out the instrument. The last time I shipped a guitar I made it was to a client in Taiwan so I definitely charged for International shipping but when the costs are less than $100 I'm not sure if I should eat the cost as a courtesy to my client. For context, I'm a 22 year old who manages a craft beer bar in an effort to support my lutherie aspirations; I don't have the unlimited resources of amazon, thanks to whom free shipping on high dollar items is now expected. I haven't discussed this with my client yet but was wondering how other builders handle this

Give your international buyer an option.

Shipping guitars to Taiwan is expensive and if the buyer is a penny pincher there are options.

There's a site called "send my bags" that allows you to send very large or heavy packages cheaply.

I guarantee you properly packed and boxed guitars will cost much more than 100 dollars to ship to Taiwan, AND they charge huge taxes at customs too, so do understand that from your client's point of view. I don't know how much because Taiwanese customs never charged me taxes for luthier stuff, but I think complete instruments are assessed under a different tax code. Also they tax on combined shipping and price, so the lower you can make shipping the lower you can make his tax burdens.
