I saw a build by John How here years ago. John has since retired but built some very cool guitars in the traditional vibe and was never afraid to leave it out there. One that he posted here had green purling and it's been on the list ever since seeing that guitar.

Here's my take on green. Nothing too fancy other than some pretty stellar Maple and Sitka.

Beautiful from one end to the other. Gorgeous wood. That's a nice shade of green that goes well with the maple.

beautiful!
How's she sound?

You may want to replace the heel strap button with one of Stew macs black T shaped ones.
Never seen a strap slip off one of those.

Nice one Danny, stunning woods!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Yeah, well done! That's a great looking guitar. I'm about to try my hand at making multi-piece necks. What did you use for the laminations in the center stripe of this one?

Thanks my friends!

I was really happy with it Mike. I'm liking Maple more and more these days. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that is easily found here with a little sweat equity as opposed to $3000 for "The Tree". I'm also very fortunate to have a friend who works as a top grader for a large Spruce processor. She has a huge number of tops go through her hands daily.

Thanks for the tip! First I've seen of those.

Thanks George! Black/green/black wood veneer. All laid up at once with the 2 Maple halves.
