Can I mix some black powdered tint with z poxy finishing resin?

Yes. You might want to just tint the first one or two coats. Depending on how many coats you do.

I do not have the answer to mixing black with zpoxy, I suspect it would not be a problem. I would like to ask why? I use zpoxy a lot but it is a real pain to use as pore filler. I put up with the pain for zpoxy's very transparent but amber cast it gives to the wood. If I was not looking a transparent fill I would switch to an easy to apply and clean filler like pore-o-pac or other easy to apply fillers.

I am working on a non-guitar project, a live edge coffee table, and finishing it just as I do my guitars. I used Zpoxy to fill the cracks and voids, since I had it unhand. I read not to add black dye to epoxy, as it will tend to have a bluish tint. I added Medium brown dye, and like the way it came out - plenty dark enough, blackish..

Permanent India ink (not water based) works great with regular epoxy although I haven't tried it with Zpoxy. We use it in 5 minute epoxy to fill the tiny gaps under the fret ends.
