Depends on player and strings but D'Add EJ45's .040"-.055" is typical around here.

If the fret work is decent, the nut slots well cut, the truss rod (if present...) well adjusted, and as David mentioned the player capable anywhere from <4/64th" at the 12th for the treble strings and around 4/64th" at the 12th for the bass strings.

Heavier strings typically have us increasing this distance slightly (higher action).

With say EJ74's I typically shoot for around 3 and 4 or 3/64" and 4/64th" at the 12th.
