Do you think I should send this Mahogany neck back to LMI for a replacement?  The plans call for this joint to be 3/4" but it measures approx 9/16".  With the sides in between the heel block and the neck this will only leave a 1/2" or less of purchase. This is my first guitar and my intention was to use HHG when the time come.  Could I glue another piece of chunk of wood on to extend it?  I really don't feel comfortable with this......What would you do?

Slap a little hide glue and you're all set.

Oh, don't forget the hourse of agonizing alignment and learning to fit it, shim and start all over.

Just trying to encourage you Chuck.

The first one's a bear, it gets easier on about number six....

Just follow Ford, Hoffman, or Boak, or Erlewine, they won't steer you wrong.

Yeah it's fine and the beauty of a dovetail on a guitar neck is the fit, once right they are amazingly strong - glue though something that you should do is not even absolutely necessary with a good fitting joint.  But be sure to glue it anyway.....

Uh oh, maybe I'll just cut 'er straight and hammer in a couple barrel nuts and bolt her on before I  slather on some hide glue.  That way I can start playing some of those Texas style chord progressions to some good Old Time fiddle music......oh yeah!

Thanks guys, I'll not fret.
